When she graduated from high-school and was awarded a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she was a theatre student with a dual degrees in Sociology and Psychology. Contractor landed her first role after a year of university. The play was well-received throughout the 92 productions that she performed in. She was awarded the award in 2002 for the best production of the Year from Canadian critics. She accepted the invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. This is a course which allows just four men and eight women can take the 20-week crash program in classical theatre. Contractor got a place in the following season of shows and eventually landed the part as Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
